Offer Local Deliveries from your Retail Business

Offer deliveries at your retail store using DeliveryMark Delivery App

Retailing is more competitive than ever.  Offering deliveries may be something that can give you an edge on your competition.

It’s not difficult to offer.  Think about these points:

  • How will you accept orders for delivery?  Allow phone calls?  From your website?
  • How will you accept payments?   Do you have a merchant account that will allow you to accept payment over the phone?  Do you want to sign up for a service such as Square, and have the delivery person charge the recipient’s credit card upon delivery?  (For Square they will need an IOS or Android device with data capabilities?  Will you, the owner, provide the delivery person with this device?)
  • Who will make the deliveries? Do you have a responsible employee with a clean driving record?
  • Does the size of your product require a large car, SUV, or van? Can they use your, the owner’s car or truck?  Does your insurance cover using the vehicle for commercial purposes?
  • Is your product perishable?  Do you need to have method of keeping it cool? Refrigerated? Think about the details of your products.  Is it fragile? Etc.

Play it safe and check with your insurance company before offering deliveries.  Better safe than sorry. (Please note the above list is Not exhaustive.  You may also want to check with your attorney.)

We also suggest having your delivery person use the DeliveryMark Delivery App.

The DeliveryMark Delivery App allows you to assign the delivery with details to your driver. It allows you to collect signatures (optional), take photos (optional), add comments (optional), and create a proof of delivery document.  It also allows you to track the location of the driver.

The app is easy to use and is inexpensive.  We say it costs less than the price of today’s lunch.
